LNG, or “Liquefied Natural Gas”, is natural gas that has been cooled to very low temperatures, transforming it into a liquid. This liquefaction process reduces its volume, making it easier and more cost-effective to transport and store. LNG has emerged as a cleaner alternative to coal for electricity production and a reliable source of energy supply.
Its advantages:
- Flexibility: LNG offers flexibility in energy supply. It can be transported and stored easily, ensuring a stable energy source even in challenging conditions.
- Balancing Renewable Energies: LNG plays a crucial role in balancing intermittent renewable energies such as wind and solar power. It can step in when renewables are insufficient, maintaining a steady energy supply.
- A Cleaner Energy Source: Compared to coal, LNG is a cleaner energy source. It produces fewer emissions, contributing to a reduction in greenhouse gases and environmental impact.
