Whether you want to invest in biomethane, be fully supplied with green gas or just benefit from guarantees of origin, we design with you the solution best matching your requirements

How it works

Today, to answer to our clients’ needs and specificities, ENGIE global Energy Management is offering 3 kinds of offers :

#1 Greening the grid with guarantees of origin

#2 Choose your gas supply : together we design a tailor made contract

#3 the Gas Purchase Agreement : Engage in Biomethane for a greener world

ENGIE offers

#1 Greening the grid with guarantees of origin

Renewable Gas Guarantees of origin (RGGOs) trace and certify the volumes of biomethane produced and injected into the gas grid.

What’s in it?

  • Volume: 1 MWh biomethane produced = 1 RGGO.
  • Duration of the GO (country-specific, e.g. 1 year in France)
  • Location of production
  • Feedstock used, i.e. manure, organic waste, energy crops, agricultural residues etc.

How is it managed?

National registry bodies trace green gas injections, transactions, validate produced, exchanged or sold volumes and keep record of all involved stakeholders. An RGGO can only be used once. It is cancelled upon transaction completion, thus avoiding double counting.

And tomorrow?

  • Strong ambition to move towards a European Registry Body (Ergar)
  • Guarantees of Origin to be recognized across all EU member states as from June 30, 2021

#2 Choose your gas supply : together we design a tailor made contract

  • Choose your mix: 100% biomethane supply or a combination of biomethane and natural gas? Both options are possible. We adapt our proposal to meet your needs.
  • Choose your maturity: how many years? You can also pre-book biomethane volumes in advance and decide to activate them later.
  • Certify your green sourcing. With our blockchain based solution, we can trace and authenticate your green sourcing.

#3 the Gas Purchase Agreement : Engage in Biomethane for a greener world

  • In mirror of the PPAs on the power, ENGIE Global Energy Management is developing Gas Purchase agreement on biomethane to link the asset to the customer supply.
  • Biomethane is injected into the Grid and then delivered to the Buyer’s designated Biomethane balance responsible party. The BRP will handle injected aYnd residual gas needed by the Buyer for its consumption profile, and transport it to the clients site.
  • Renewables Guarantees of Origin (RGOOs) are also delivered to the Buyer for its environmental reporting.
  • Tailor made Gas purchase agreement can be proposed (delivery as produced, or as forecasted etc…).
