ENGIE steps into Norway with Tonstad, a green project to construct one of the largest wind farms in the South of the country with around 0.7 TWh annual production. As part of our global energy management solutions, we designed a 25-year power purchase agreement providing for the selling of Tonstad’s entire production to aluminium producer Norsk Hydro. The annual production will be around 0.7 TWh, and will save 172,000 tons of CO2 emission, compared to the average European emission per KWh.
Next to the power selling, the Electricity certificates (EL certs) and guarantees of origin GOO have been contracted on a shorter term.
This is one of the longest ever signed PPA in Europe; it is right in line with our ambition to become a reference green midstreamer, converging renewable production development with industrials’ fast-growing interest in business greenification.
